Introduction:
The duties of this job entail weeding flower beds, trimming hedges, clearing grass and weeds out of cracks in street and sidewalks, and picking up trash around fences and stairwells, sweeping sidewalks and miscellaneous unskilled labor involving the use of hand tools and minor power operated items such as weed eaters, trimmers, and lawn mowers.
Laborer may assist shop mechanics by providing unskilled labor.
Laborer will be used to supplement Grounds Section employees' in beautification of VA grounds.
Laborer may also assist in demolition of areas for construction.
Laborer may assist in moving items up to 75 pounds during equipment or furniture moves from building to building.

Responsibilities:
Incumbent must have the ability to use rakes, hoes, shovels, spades, spray cans, lawn mowers, and brooms.
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all of his/her hand tools are in working order.
Judgments and decisions made by incumbent are solely on work areas and hand tools.
Incumbent will be under the general supervision of the Structural & Grounds Maintenance foreman.
He/she will occasionally receive direction from second and third levels of supervision but will work independently and on his/her own initiative will solve technical problems.
Incumbent interacts with all visitors/patients/personnel in a sensitive manner that reflects the core values of the VA Medical Center (Trust, Respect, Commitment, Compassion, and Excellence).
Incumbent will perform other duties as assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
