PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Program Specialist serves as the Medical Staff Coordinator for the Medical Center and is responsible for the centralized credentialing and privileging program of the medical staff at the Carl Vinson VAMC.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
The program specialist will assume overall coordination of the credentialing and privileging for appointment, reappointment, special advancement for performance/achievement, and change in status of appointment process at this medical center.
The incumbent had final review authority over all credentialing and privileging activities prepared for the Physician/Dentist Professional Standards Board; for Board actions involving actions for Podiatrist; Physician Assistant and the Chief of Staff.
The program specialist has direct responsibility for managing the software credentialing program Vet pro, the National Practitioner Data Bank and any national, VISN or other reporting requirements for this facility.
The program specialist maintains an accurate and current database on all providers privileged to practice within the medical center using automated resources such as VISTA, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
The program specialist act independently and will coordinate action with Clinical Service Lines, Human Resource Management Service and Chief of Staff to ensure all credentials and privileges for physicians, Dentist, Optometrist, Podiatrist and Scopes of Practice for Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologist and CRNA are current and complete.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
